5. The piezometric heads in a confined 1 point aquifer separated by 121m are 48.6m and 47.5m respectively. Calculate its hydraulic gradient. (Correct up to three decimal places)

    Let piezometric heads be H1 and H2 and separation between them be L then hydraulic gradient(∆H/L) = (H1-H2) /L So putting values, H1= 48.6m, H2= 47.5m, L=121m So hydraulic gradient= (48.6–47.5)/121= 0.009 Answer is = 0.009(upto three decimal place).

    dh=48.6-47.5= 1.1 and l = 121 ,so hydraulic gradient= 1.1/121= 0.009
