    According to Third law of thermodynamics, at zero Kelvin the entropy is zero for a perfectly crystalline substance. But CO is not a perfect crystal at zero Kelvin. CO has a very small dipole moment and because of which it can crystallise as CO:CO:CO instead of CO:OC:CO. Thus there are two different ways in which CO stays in crystal lattice. S = k ln 2 S = nR ln 2 S/n = R ln 2 = 8.314 * 0.693 S/n = 5.76 J/mol/K
