Porosity for the given bulk density and grain (particle) density , is given by p= (Grain density –Bulk density) /(Bulk density) now putting values as per given in the question, we get porosity as p= (2.7 –2.3) /(2.3) p= 0.4/2.3 = 0.1739 So porosity (in %) is equal to = 17.39 (correct upto 2 decimal places) Answer--> Porosity(in %) = 17.39
