9. For s and p valence orbitals, overlap decreases on A group of periodic table while B is true for the transition metals. That is why the heat of atomization of the main group metals C with increasing atomic numbers while B trend is observed for transition metals. Here A, B and C respectively are: (a) Ascending, opposite, increases (C) Descending, the same, geos up (b) descending, opposite, falls (d) ascending, the same, falls ANSWED KAV

Due to increase in the sizes and principal quantum number, the d orbitals start coming in the picture. That's why it decreases while descending down the group. Hope it helps. 😊

    Dear Shristhy.

B is the correct answer. The effective overlap of s and p orbitals decreases while descending the periodic table.

Enthalpy of atomisation depend upon the number of unpaired electron more is unpaired electron more is enthalpy of atomisation.Upto the middle of the series, the number of unpaired electrons increases and then decreases due to their pairing. This results first in the increase and then decrease in the value of enthalpy of atomisation. So the enthalpy of atomisation of main group metals C-"falls" with increasing in atomic numbers and B- "opposite" trends is observed for transition metals.. So considering all these points..option B is correct

    Got this shristy??

    eduncle-logo-app

read this shristy👆...as in middle of series the enthalpy of atomisation increses for 3d series but for main grp metals it decreses...so falls and opposite...terms comes😊

    Option B is correct

    explanation ??

    eduncle-logo-app

Going down a group, the atoms generally became larger, and the overlap between the valence orbitals of the bonded atoms decreases..And the opposite trends is observed for transition metals

for 2nd part wait explaining typing....

    got it shristy??

    eduncle-logo-app

sir ye question hi smjh ni aara hme

    eduncle-logo-app

or enthalpy of atomisation no. of unpaired electrons pe depend krta hai...so in sabhi factors ko ek sath sentence me likh diya hai...down the group size large hota hai...so shape diffused ho jata hai....isiliye overalap effective nhi reh jata hai...wo decrease hota jata hai

    eduncle-logo-app

any doubt shristy you can ask😊

    eduncle-logo-app

N what for opposite and fall

    eduncle-logo-app

opposite means not the same trend for transition metal series

    eduncle-logo-app

this questions is combined and formed like a sentence

    eduncle-logo-app

you tell specific which part it creates problem?

    eduncle-logo-app

    ok sir thanku
