    here a belongs to R is a constant , so for any value of a in R is convergent always..

    Ashwini , I have searched and come to conclusion that this sequence is convergent.. see my two attached - in first ( if a is non zero ) , in second ( if a is zero ) in both cases sequence is convergent

    The given series is divergent because different values of a we get different limit therefore clearly divergent.
