Simple camera uses film to capture the image and have little sensors. Digital camera captures the image with a sensor. Images of digital camera can be processed digitally. This means that for example geometric distortions can be corrected with software and there is no need to use of a distortion free lens. Geometric distortion is related to the geometry of the image. without introducing some sort of error/distortion it is not possible to get a good ideal image with proper scale. Remotely sensed imagery typically exhibits internal and external geometric error. It is important to recognise the source of the internal and external error and whether it is systematic (predictable) or non-systematic (random). Causes of geometric distortion: 1. Skew caused by Earth's rotation effect, 2. Scanning system induced variation in ground resolution cell, 3. scanning system one dimensional relief displacement, 4. Scanning system tangential scale distortion. figure is below

There are many differences between Simple and digital camera. Simple camera uses film to capture the image whereas digital camera captures the image with a sensor. Images of digital camera can be processed digitally. This means that for example geometric distortions can be corrected with software and there is no need to create a distortion free lens. Geometric distortion is related to the geometry of the image. It is impossible to take an aerial image of an area without introducing some sort of error and distortion. Refer to the attached figure of image geometric correction.
