    In question, dark and light bands are mentioned. So the answer should be Onyx only.

    Agate contains variety of colours (not only dark and light colour). Onyx only contains dark and light alternating bands as shown in the figure.

    Agate and onyx are both varieties of layered chalcedony that differ only in the form of the bands; agate has curved bands and onyx has parallel bands. See the attached image of Onyx.
