Ferrosilite is Fe2Si2O6, Fayalite is Fe2SiO4, Quartz is SiO2 The minimum number of components which will make these three phases (quartz, ferrosilite, Fayalite) is 2 i.e. FeO and SiO2. So, the number of components= 2 Degree of freedom= C-P+2 = 2-3+2 = 1 i.e., the degree of freedom=1

Basically the components are the major oxides and fluid. Fayalite:- Fe2Sio4. so feo and Sio2 Ferrosillite:- (FeMg)2Si2O6 so Feo ,mgo,sio2 Quartz:- sio2 so component is feo, mgo, sio2 (3) P+F= C+2 3+F=3+2 F=2
