A rod is hanging vertically from a pivot. A particle, traveling in horizontal direction, collides with the rod as shown in the figure. For the rod-particle system, consider the linear momentum and. the angular momentum about the pivot. Which of the following statements are NOT true? (A) 4. (B) (C) (D) Both linear momentum and angular momentum are conserved Linear momentum is conserved but angular momentum is not Linear momentum is not conserved but angular momentum is conserved Neither linear momentum nor angular momentum are Conserved

option c is correct bcoz the rod is fixed only angular momentum is conserved...... best regards

    hope u got it

  • Aisha Shaikh best-answer

As the rod is fixed only angular momentum is conserved. so 'c' is the only option correct

  • Mahak

    c is correct answer

    eduncle-logo-app

    how

    eduncle-logo-app

means a,b,d are the ans because they have asked to anwer the wrong statement

    eduncle-logo-app

since rod is fixed its linear momemtum is not conserved ,but particle is having angular momemtum so AM is conserved

    eduncle-logo-app

so this corresponds to only option c

    eduncle-logo-app

acc if they question is like ans the correct statement then option c is correct but here the question is ans the statements which are not correct so optuons are a,b,d
