The 'a' value of gas is directly proportional to the attraction between the gas molecules and is also directly proportional to the ease with which a gas can be liquefied. The dipole-dipole interactions are stronger than London or induced dipole interactions. 😊

The a values of gas is directly proportional to the intermolecular forces of attraction...and the 'a' value is directly proportional to the ease with which the gas can be liquefied. 😊

    For 2 it becomes Kr>Ar>Ne>He

    eduncle-logo-app

As london forces increases as the number of electrons increases

    eduncle-logo-app

    For 1 it becomes H20>Co2>Ar

    eduncle-logo-app

For bit 1 and 2 check the strength of forces sourav

    eduncle-logo-app

in all noble gases london forces is there which increases with increase in no of electron

    eduncle-logo-app

    got sourav??

    eduncle-logo-app

    what about option 1?

    eduncle-logo-app

plz explain how to arrange bit 1

    eduncle-logo-app

in h20 dipole dipole interactions and extensive H bonding

    eduncle-logo-app

CO2 is non polar type so london dispersion forces

    eduncle-logo-app

so H20 has more a value than Co2

    eduncle-logo-app

    what about co2 and Ar

    eduncle-logo-app

there is polar nature in CO bonds but overall is non polar molecule and strength of london dispersion force is more than Ar

    eduncle-logo-app

london forces increases with number of electrons also

    eduncle-logo-app

    now got it sourav??

    eduncle-logo-app

co2 has 22 e and Ar has 20..so london disp Force of co2 is more.

    eduncle-logo-app

    Ar 18 na

    eduncle-logo-app

    so sorry

    For 3 its is n pentane>isopentane>neopentane

    eduncle-logo-app

check for intermolecular forces of attraction

    eduncle-logo-app

can we say that greater is the molecular weight and surface area, greater will be value of a?

    eduncle-logo-app

    yes straight and branching hydrocarbon

    eduncle-logo-app

what about molecular wt.. is it also valid?

    eduncle-logo-app

here molecular weight same na...in isomers of pentane

    eduncle-logo-app

not im asking about other options like bit 1 and 2
