Q1. What is UGC NET JRF and SRF?
Ans. JRF stands for Junior Research Fellowship and is a 2 years research program awarded to UGC NET JRF qualified candidates.
SRF stands for Senior Research Fellowship which is awarded after the promotion from JRF. The duration for SRF is 3 years.
Q2. Does a JRF upgrades to SRF automatically?
Ans. No, the promotion is not automatic and has a process involved.
As per the official guidelines, after the completion of JRF period of 2 years, work of the research fellow will be evaluated by the experts. If it is found satisfactory, the tenure will be extended further for the period of 3 years under the SRF.
