Oxygen is more electronegative than sulfur, so it is more likely to accept a proton. Therefore, the OH anion is more basic than the SH anion. Also, the conjugate acid of the SH anion, H2S, is more acidic than the conjugate acid of OH, H2O. In short, H2S is more acidic than H20, so OH must be more basic than SH.

H2S is stronger acid than H20...and strong acids have weak conjugate base...so HS- is weaker conjugate base than OH-

Any doubt you can ask me and if you got it then please accept the answer😊🙏

yes as you down the group the bond length become longer so it easily release H+ ion..so acid becomes stronger and their conjugate bases become weaker

    eduncle-logo-app

but in case of acidity we check stable the anion or conjugate base more acidic the compound so why

    eduncle-logo-app

and more stable the conjugate base more stronger is the acid

    eduncle-logo-app

it is criteria that if negative charge is there on more EN atom in case of conjugate base then it is stable

    eduncle-logo-app

more stable less basic....these are inversely related

    any doubt simun??
