    Answer: Compounds of iron and Aluminium Black soils are black in colour due to the presence of iron, aluminium compounds and humus.

    Most probable answer has to be (B) Titaniferous magnetite. These are also black sometimes due to organic compounds of iron and aluminum and some soluble humus (dead and decayed plants which produces anaerobic condition in subsurface).

    That's why i have written that Also they can have black colour due to organic compounds of Al and Fe.. So in case of MSQ, Both A and B will be answer but if one asks this in single mcq question then B would be best suited answer.

    Soil Texture: Black cotton soil (regur soil) is highly argillaceous i.e. clayey. It is deep and impermeable and thus has high water retention capacity. Soil Colour: These soils are black in colour due to the presence of iron, aluminium compounds and humus ....so answer should be Iron and argillaceous material/alluminium
