Can't understand the sign in velocities???

    signs of velocities of source and observer??????

    Well it's attributed to Dopplers effect, which states that if one consider the observer at rest(Vo =0) and observes the sound source moving close to the observer with time, then the observed frequency or the frequency perceived by the observer increases (frequency perceived by the observer at rest is greater than the actual frequency of the sound source ) , While just opposite case happens in the case if the sound source is moving away from the observer (at rest), then the frequency perceived by the observer is less than the actual frequency emitted(so a positive sign in the denominator)..
