Can you explain me this

according to to question we must select the maximum value when we give x=1 so when we give that value from the set of equations the maximum value will be 3 but here in textbook they have taken the maximum as 2 for x=1 (according to graph)

    thanks for the solution but here in text book near the graph there is a printing mistake instead of max(....x+1) they have printed max(...x+2) so I was confused whether to find max( 2-x,2,1+x) or max( 2-x,2,2+x)
