Exam Activities Postponed due to COVID-19
The last date of CSIR NET 2020 Application Form was postponed from 16th April 2020 to 30th June 2020 because of universal pandemic COVID -19.
The other exam activities of CSIR NET 2020 are also getting delayed due to this.
NTA Postponed Exam for Assam & Meghalaya Aspirants
The CSIR NET Dec 2019 Exam was postponed from 15th December 2019 for 7772 candidates who were going to appear at 24 centres located in Assam & Meghalaya.
NTA Conducts NET Exam in Online Mode from Dec 2019
As per the official information, National Testing Agency has started to conduct the CSIR NET Exam in online mode.
The revolutionary step has come in effect from December 2019 Exam.
It seems that NTA will bring some more changes in the National Eligibility Test in upcoming days.

NET Now Mandatory for SC Students to Avail Research Scholarship
The NDA government has decided that candidates belonging from Scheduled Caste (SC) will need to qualify the National Eligibility Test (NET) in order to apply for MPhil and PhD funding.
Previously candidates simply required masters degree to submit a research proposal to apply for MPhil and PhD funding.
These new guidelines will impact 2000 scholars out of these, 1500 scholars are in humanities and social sciences stream and 500 in the science stream.
Research Fellowship likely to be Hiked by 80%?
Research Scholars have demanded to increase their monthly fellowship amount by 80%.
The memorandum in this regard has already sent by fellows to the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development.
After the proposed hike, the JRFs would start getting INR 31000 per month and SRFs would start getting INR 35000 per month against the current stipend of JRF -INR 25000 per month & SRF -INR 28000 per month.
The last revision in fellowship took placed in October 2014.
Odisha Decided to Pay Research Incentive for Non-JRF Scholars
The State Government of Bhubaneshwar has planned to provide an incentive for research in higher education institutes by March 2019.
The Odisha University Research and Innovation Incentivisation Plan (OURIIP) will provide incentives to the selected scholars for research.
Candidates with the top CSIR NET Rank who have not been eligible for JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) will get the research fellowships for doing research in state universities.
The state’s higher education department brings the plan for the brilliant students of Odisha who holds the NET certificate.
The council’s vp Asoka Kumar Das said that the duration of JRF will probably be limited to four years and may extend to one more years with the approval of the Odisha State Higher Education Council.
As per the rules, the candidate can get INR 15000 per month as fellowship with INR 25000 per year as contingency amount involving laboratory work and INCR 15000 without the laboratory work.
The fellowships will be provided for 35 subjects. For each subject, there are only five fellowships out of which two are reserved for girl candidates.

PET Exams Clashing with CSIR NET Schedule
After a clash between PET (PhD Entrance Test) and CSIR NET exams, the University of Mumbai has decided to postpone the exam dates of PhD and MPhil Entrance Test.
Previously the PET Exam was scheduled to be organised on 16 December 2018 but for the sake of science aspirants, the authorities decided to postpone the examination to 23rd December 2018.
Joint Secretary of NFQE (National Forum for Quality Education), Kushal Munde, said, “There were heavy chances of many of aspirants appearing for both PET and CSIR NET Exams. For the benefit of all, PET had to be rescheduled. But it is high time that the varsity introspects on the way it decides the examination schedule. This is the third time when an exam postponed because of overlapping”.
UGC listed 24 Fake Universities, 2 of them Receives FIRs
Stern action has been initiated by UGC against the fake universities in India.
University Grants Commission has taken legal action on two of the fake universities and lodged FIRs.
The universities which have received FIRs are –
Institute of Planning and Management in Delhi
Bio-Chemic Education Grants Commission in Nadia, West Bengal.
In regard to the same, Dr. Satya Pal Singh (Minister of State of Human Resource Development) said:
“The UGC has issued show-cause/warning notice to fake universities and cautioned that running degree courses and giving misleading advertisements shall attract severe action under the provision of appropriate laws including UGC Act and the Indian Penal Code”.
