The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially started the registration process for the Joint CSIR-UGC NET June 2026 session on the official portal. Candidates can now fill out the online application form through the CSIR NET Official Website

2. NTA NET is Mandatory for SC Students to Avail Research Scholarship
The NDA government has decided that candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) need to qualify for the National Eligibility Test (NET) to apply for M.Phil and Ph.D. funding.
Previously, candidates simply required a master’s degree to submit a research proposal to apply for M.Phil. and Ph.D. funding.
3. Stipend of Research Fellowship Increased
After accepting the demand for Research Scholars, HRDG has announced a new stipend amount for JRF & SRF.
According to the announcement, JRFs are getting a stipend of INR 37000 per month, which is 17% more than the previous fellowship amount of INR 31000, and SRFs are getting a stipend of INR 42000 per month; earlier, the stipend of SRF was INR 35000 per month.
4. Odisha Decided to Pay Research Incentive for Non-JRF Scholars
The State Government of Bhubaneshwar has planned to provide an incentive for research in higher education institutes for the brilliant students of Odisha who hold the NET certificate.
Policy guidelines -
OURIIP will provide incentives to the selected scholars for research.
A top CSIR UGC NET Ranker who has not been eligible for JRF will get a research fellowship to conduct research in state universities.
Candidate can get INR 15000 P/m as a fellowship with INR 25000 P/m as a contingency amount, involving laboratory work, and INR 15000 without the laboratory work.
Fellowships will be provided for 35 subjects. For each subject, there are only five fellowships, out of which two are reserved for female candidates.
