    28.5 Mev The alpha particle has two proton and two neutron.  The combined mass of nuclei =net mass of proton + net mass of neutron =(2×1.007277)+(2×1.00866)=4.031874 amu Binding energy = mass defect =4.031874−4.001265=0.0306amu=0.0306(931.48)=28.5MeV
