here it is taking DOF as 3 for rotational, vibrational and transitional but for triatomic it is 3 DOF of transitional, 2 for rotational and 5 for vibrational then what is the catch there because it affects the answer

vibrational degree of freedom have double the contribution than rotational and translational. This is some higher level concept. For time being just remember this. it has the concept of number or squared terms in expression of Hamiltonian and it contains both K.E. and Potential energy terms. That's why contribution gets doubled. if you find above discussion heavy going, ignore it. just remember this as a fact.

in vibrational DOF it is not multiplying by 1/2 and wrote simply 3. wherather it should be multiple of 1/2KT. explain this one also

We have two types of triatomic particals. 1) linear(all three atoms in a line) and another is.... 2) non-linear(also known as 3-D, here all the three atoms are not in a line). In case 1) we have two rotational degree of freedom. But in the later case, we have three rotational degree of freedom. To understand in a better way I am attaching a supporting pic. Best regards.
