Does acetone gives silver mirror test?

    yes I got the silver mirror test...but why is the answer saying that we can also identify acetone with Ag(NH3)2??...since acetone can't give silver mirror test

    see you can distinguish aldehydes and ketone through silver mirror test...aldehydes gives while ketone don't...when you do this practical...a bright silver is formed in the inner part of test tube

    acetone doesn't show silver mirror test as you know tollens reagent is mild oxidizing agent and acetone is very difficult to oxidize

    there's a question that..."Acetone and acetaldehyde can be identified by treatment with-"....and answer is given "Ag(NH3)2" is the answer wrong??
