Entropy change of surrounding, in adiabetic free expansion is always zero. The name itself suggest(adiabetic , means no heat given to the surrounding). But you know that, free expansion is irreversible process.(it means free compression never occurs, have your ever heard of free compression?, you could never, because of irreversibility) it means entropy change of universe should be positive. but as surrounding has no change in entropy (due to adiabetic) hence the system must increase its entropy to make change in entropy of universe to be positive. Ask doubts if any. Best regards.

entropy of outside is zero because free expansion is an abiabatic process ,which means ∆Q=0 ( no heat exchange ) ,thus ∆s=0 from very basic definition of entropy. feel free to ask doubts.
