    I only want to say that when temperature change, use formula for dQ=mcdT and when state change use dQ=mL. bcz during state change, temperature remains constant. put these dQ in dS according to the situation. u will get ans.

    Remember one thing, state change(whether from solid to liquid or liquid to vapour) always takes place at constant Temperature. And Latent heat is involved in this process. Latent heat is given by, heat exchange in state change per unit mass. L=∆q/m. Best regards.

    solution: this is the simplest way! the second equation comes by simply breaking dQ=m*C*dT and then integrating.
