    here we are calculating energy per atom so formula will be for diatomic molecule

    actually Kinetic energy is nothing it is the amount of energy that is released when bond is borken by the absorbed energy. so remaining energy will be released as Kinetic energy

    kinetic energy is the energy other than bond energy. That means if we supply (x) amount of energy to a molecule which is more than its bond energy then the extra energy other than bond energy will be the kinetic energy of the atom( as bond b/w two atom has broken it is no longer a molecule). And the given molecule is a diatomic in atomicity, K.E. is divided by 2.
