    NI(CO)4 has sp3 hybridization Ni(CN)4 2- has dsp2

    where you have doubt?

    eduncle-logo-app

but bo CO and CN are strong ligand

    eduncle-logo-app

yes but here oxidation state of nickel is different na...first case Ni 0 and Second case Ni2+

    eduncle-logo-app

    please explain it

    eduncle-logo-app

    ok wait

    eduncle-logo-app

see strong ligand is both CO and CN in case of d8 configuration of nickel...the inner d orbital is used for hybridiastion as electron are paired up.under the influence of strong ligand...so dsp2 hybridization

    thanks

explain how hb will takes place

    eduncle-logo-app

pairing occurs due to strong carbonyl ligand

    eduncle-logo-app

All the 10 electrons are pushed into nickel 3d orbitals due to CO ligand

NiCO4 is tetrahedral so it will be sp3 NiCN4²- is dsp2 so square planar option B is correct

    eduncle-logo-app

but both CO and CN are SFL

    eduncle-logo-app

But in NiCO4 Ni is d10 configuration

    eduncle-logo-app

In NiCN4² Ni is in +2 oxidation state. so Ni²+ is d8 configuration so dsp2
