    check this shib

    eduncle-logo-app

sir I m not clear about this topic and I m also confuse when I use these formula and the other one which is like zeff=z-sigma

    eduncle-logo-app

mainly i have attached images about slater rules..so that you can easily find screening constant that is sigma...and nuclear charge is nothing but this is atomic number

    eduncle-logo-app

the formula which is given in your booklet..it is derived from general formula by taking n

    eduncle-logo-app

Don't be learn formula type...try to focus on concept behind slater's rule...it helps

    eduncle-logo-app

and the screening effect is caused by internal electrons between nucleus and considering electrons...so dont be confuse here

    eduncle-logo-app

got shib or still any doubt then ask?

    eduncle-logo-app

sir i solved many problems regarding Zeff=Z-sigma but my confusion is for last electron of 2nd periond and last electron of d orbital that when i will use that formula instead of 1st one

    eduncle-logo-app

yes see when the transition series comes then effective nuclear charges changes as d electrons comes...so use the formula which i have attached in the images

    eduncle-logo-app

see this one..last part...read step 3...when 2nd orbit comes and when 3rd means d orbital comes

    eduncle-logo-app

shib you can always use Zeff=Z - sigma...changes comes here in finding sigma value...so proceed the way which i have written to find sigma value

    eduncle-logo-app

shib please mark the answer too if your queries is resolved๐Ÿ˜Š

    Priyanshu kumar

don't be confuse....first arrange the electron configuration in the proper way as given in the image then find the value of screening constant

now you can apply these formula for those which are given in you booklet.

you can't use this formula for exceptional configuration such as Cr, Cu

2nd formula is wrong. please use formula provide by me

    eduncle-logo-app

    dis you get it???

    eduncle-logo-app

please accept the answer if you got it ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

    eduncle-logo-app

sir pz tell me when I will use these formulas I am not clear about the last electron of 2nd period

    eduncle-logo-app

here this formula is used only for the electron present in 3d orbital so we will use the n value of n is equal to number of electrons in 3d orbital

    eduncle-logo-app

    got it??

    eduncle-logo-app

    such as for Sc =3d1 , n= 1, for Fe = 3d6 n= 6

    eduncle-logo-app

    got it??

    eduncle-logo-app

sir for Sc and Fe i can use Zeff=Z-sigma this formula??

    eduncle-logo-app

    yes, why not

    eduncle-logo-app

but you can't use this formula for Cr, and Cu because they have exceptional configuration

    eduncle-logo-app

but I'll specially suggest you to uss systematic method to calculate Zยฐ
