The covalent character increases in groups as we go from top to bottom .it decreases in periods as we go from left to right .it increases in groups as the electrons get further away from the nucleus the attractive forces bettween the positive charge of the nucleus and negative charge of the electrons decreases and they are easy to share with their atoms.

Fajans' Rule Size of the ion: Smaller the size of cation, the larger the size of the anion, greater is the covalent character of the ionic bond.

Polarising power of cations depends on charge density...

    eduncle-logo-app

In case of Cacl2,Srcl2 and bacl2...anions is same...and cations charge is also same as all three belongs to grp 2 metals

    eduncle-logo-app

But down the group,as size increases the charge density decreases so polarising power of cations decreases

    eduncle-logo-app

So this decrease in polarising power decreases covalent character

    eduncle-logo-app

so covalent character order is CaCl2>SrCl2>BaCl2

upto this much akash got this na??

    eduncle-logo-app

Now come to d block elements parts...s block has less covalent character than d block....

    eduncle-logo-app

so accordingly you arrange this...first three has less covalent character than last three

For Zncl2,cdcl2 and hgcl2 :- Here size of cation is Zn²+ < Cd²+ < Hg²+ and anion in all of them is same Cl-, So according to fajan’s rule order of covalent character is ZnCl2 > CdCl2 > HgCl2

    eduncle-logo-app

So overall you conclude the decreasing order of covalent character:- Zncl2>CdCl2>HgCl2>Cacl2>Srcl2>Bacl2

Hope you got this...Thanks for asking your query😊
