How a weighing scale measures it's own weight if its rested upside down

    weighing machine doesn't measure ur mass, it measures ur weight i.e simply mass multiplied by the acceleration due to gravity acting between ur feet and weighing machine.when you push(mg) on the weighing machine, the weighing scale pushes(normal) back on you. And it is this push that the weighing machine measures and show u... for any query please ask..

    Because you asked me to do that in your question. okay, you are asking why it is not showing it's own weight when it was in normal condition, right? if it is your doubt, do let me know first.

    it is the upper part of weighing machine, which can sense the weight. if it is in normal condition without any external weight, then it will show zero(as calibrated by the manufacturer). and whenit is upside down, its upper surface is now touching the ground, hence weight of rest of the weighing machine is exerting force on ground and the ground is applying normal reaction to balance the weighing machin. hence it measures its own weight.
