Heat engine

solve it, with short tricky method.Answer is 700. . ONE important thing i think there was error in question so kindly take 1000K instead of 100K!!

    in reality the temperature of source is always greater then temperature of sink in this problem I just try to solve this problem with given parameters

    here is a mistake in the question because the temperature of source is never greater than temperature of sink, so either source is at 1000k or sink is at 40k.. I did it with both cases.. u have to only remember that in series, work done by the whole engine(A+B) is the sun of work done by A and B...

    Remember, when Carnot engines work in series (or succession) then the work done by the engine as a whole is the sum of work done by individual Carnot engines (applicable for any number of Carnot engines in series). The fact to remember is, only first and the last engine temperatures are being used for the total work. go through the solution and grasp the method. their are many approach, but it is the simplest and time saving.     Answer :here is the detailed solution, I have taken 1000k ( as it is a misprint or one can take T2= 40k also ) , please note that when engine in series ,they work as if the single engine was working btw the intial and final temp and their work get added . feelfree for any doubts
