how do we measure the [H+] or conc. of OH- in soln to find ph?

    i have read that 1st we taken water and calculated its H+and oH- conc. and it was 0.0000001 so I wanted to know how they calculated and after that ph scale was made?

    yes but for that measurement of ph we have to calculate conc of H+ na then by using -log(H+) we can find ph,

    yes you can calculate H+.suppose you have Hcl since one molecule of HCl yields one [H+], the equivalent mass is equal to the molecular mass. Therefore a one molar solution of HCl (one molecular mass per liter), yields a one molar solution of [H+].

    yes, but can we find practically conc. of H+ in a soln, if i have given soln of Hcl then how can i calculate conc. of H+ in that condition

    According to given question you have to calculate anand...Sometym ph and poh is given then you find the concentration of H+ and OH-...Sometym ques is asked to find the ph of the mixture...
