Energy required to eject loosely bonded electron from outmost shell of gaseous isolated atom is known as Ionisation energy. Ionisation energy is directly proportional to Zeff i.e, -13.6Z^2/n2 electrons ejected from ground state so IP = E∞ - E1 = -E1 ( E∞ = 0) IP = -E1 = 13.6Z^2 IP = here energy is given so IP will be always positive IP = 13.6 z^2
