The distance of a seismic station from the epicenter of an earthquake is the epicentral distance. The difference in travel times for P and S waves can be obtained directly from the seismogram. The epicentral distance D is given by D = (ts - tp)/(1/Vs - 1/Vp). Explanation is given in the attachment.
