    how 0 can be identity if the operation is given to be multiplication modulo ?

    in Z6, the operation is congruence modulo 6......so 3²=9 , which by congruence modulo 6 gives 3

    when 9 is divided by 6, the remainder comes out to be 3..... this is expressed by saying that 9 is congruent to 3 (modulo 6)
