As we know that rocks are aggregate of minerals. Major mineral composition of a rock defines both of its megascopic and Microscopic properties. ● First learn the major mineral composition of some important rocks( igneous, sedimentary, metamorphic) and also learn their characteristic texture and structure. ● Then based on their texture and structure determine whether they are igneous/ sedimentary/ or metamorphic. ● Then find the mineral composition of the given rock and you can name the rock based on the major mineral composition. If you learn the mineral composition and characteristic texture of each rock, You can easily memorise their megascopic and Microscopic properties.
