I'm not able to understand the sign convention of velocities. doppler effect

ral v+Yn)tVa (v+Vm)TVsJ Apparent frequency In case of stationary medium vm = 0 VVs where Vo observer velocity Vs = SOurce velocity f actual frequency V = velocity of sound () When source moves towards stationary observer. vs(+) S V-VsJ (it) When sources moves away from stationary observer. - vs(-) O V f f'= V+VsJ i) When observer moves towards stationary source. look, 1)source is at rest and observer moves towards source means Vs=0 and Vo= +ve 2) source at rest and observe moves away from source means Vs=0,Vo=-ve 3) observer at rest and source moves towards observer means Vo=0 and Vs=-ve 4) observer at rest and source moves away from observer means Vo=0 and Vs=+ve now, when both are moving towards each other or moving away from against each other then keeping these convention same ( assuming that one is at rest)...
