In a population that is In a Hardy weinberg equilibrium, 40% 0f the plants are recessive homozygotes and produce white flowers(WF). if the total number of individuals in the population is 14000 plants, the number of homozygous dominant red flowered (RF) plants and heterozygous pink flowered (PF) plants Would be: 1. RF-5600 PF- 1891 2. RF- 1891 PF- 650b8 3. RF 5600 PF 6508 4. RF 5145 PF 8855

    Given, 40% of the plants are homozygous recessive and White Flowers. So, the genotype frequency of WF = 0.4 Means, q^2=0.4 q=√0.4 q=0.6324 Recessive allele frequency = q = 0.6324 Dominant allele frequency = p = (1-0.6324) = 0.3676 Red flowers (RF) = Homozygous dominant = p^2 RF Individuals number in 14000 individuals = ( p^2 × 14000) = { (0.3676)^2 × 14000} = 1891.8166 ~ 1891 Pink flower (PF) = Heterozygous = 2pq PF Individuals number in 14000 individuals = (2pq × 14000) = { (2×0.3676×0.6324) × 14000 } = 6509.1667 ~ 6508 So the right option will be option 2 I'm attaching here my solved hand written copy. Hope it'll be beneficial. Feel free to ask me if you face trouble yet.
