As you know that any originally a strata has nearly constant thickness throughout it's extent. In case of similar folding, the hinge zone gets thicker and limb zone gets thinner (see attached photo). The thickening of hinge zone and thinning of limb zone can only be explained by a net material transfer from limb area to hinge area. In other words the horizontal stress (nearly perpendicular to limb) is much greater than vertical stress in case of similar fold. Under the effect of higher horizontal stress materials starts moving towards low stress zone which is hinge zone. Feel free to ask in case of any further clarification.

I got it sir. Thank you. but is there any possibility of reverse process i.e. the hinge areas get thiner and limbs get thicker??

Yes it's possible. For exam in Class 1A fold, hinge area is thinner in comparison with limb area.
