In electrophilic addition sometimes mechanisms proceed only forming carbocation intermediate sometimes by cyclic bromonium intermediate. How do we know when to use which mechanism. Please explain the reason in detail and also provide examples for both.

    When attacking reagent is non polar and in presence of non polar solvent or in Gaseous medium then cyclic bromination take place...(markonikoff rule shdnt working).. In other cases it will be through carbonation.
