Diatomic gaseous molecule give Rotational -vibrational 'Raman' spectra are governed by following selection rule :- del v=+-1 and del J= 0 and +-2... then considering these selection rule O,Q and S branch are drawn... So your confusion is how del J=+-2 comes ...Because this selection rule is for Rotational vibrational Raman spectra

This selection rule is only for Pure Rotational Raman spectra of diatomic molecules i.e del J=0,+-2

then sir if I have understood rightly then it is - That selection rule for rotational quantum number J is +-1 but for rotational vibrational raman spectra it can be +-2,+-3 so on... Am I right sir??

yes here selection rule changes and one thing the physical spectroscopy this part...read it serially as all derivation are related

    okay and thankyou sir
