The electromagnetic spectrum between the wavelengths 0.7 and 1,000 µm is known as the infrared radiation. The lower wavelength limit coincides with the upper limit of visible radiation. Radiations with wavelengths in excess of 1,000 µm are called the microwave spectrum.

Infrared spectrum and microwave spectrum, both are related to EMR spectrum. The wavelength and frequency of infrared spectrum and microwave spectrum is different. Infrared radiation extends from red color of the visible spectrum at 700 nanometers to 1 millimeter. Microwave spectrum ranges from wavelengths of 30 to 0.03 cm. See the attached image for clear distinction between microwave and infrared spectrum.
