Is gradient and directional derivatives are same or different ?. and is always directional derivatives will be in the direction of gradient only ?

    both are different....directional derivative denotes the slope of tangent to the curve of intersection C. the gradient lies in the direction in which the direction derivative is maximum but it is not necessary DD in always in the direction of gradient .
