There is a slight catch in this situation. Technically, there is no requirement of Mathematics for taking the exam. However, IIT Bombay has a strict requirement of Mathematics in class 12 for admission. Thus, even with a rank of top 10, you will be denied admission in IIT Bombay if you did not have Mathematics as a subject in your Higher Secondary education. Moreover, the IIT JAM BT paper has a 18% Mathematics segment which is of Higher Secondary level and beyond (some subjects from college level general mathematics are also included). So, without exposure to Higher Secondary mathematics, it is extremely difficult to ace this paper. IIT Roorkee and IIT Indore do not have a compulsory Mathematics requirement as far as I know [I might be wrong]. If you don’t have Mathematics, I would suggest to you - not to waste a lot of time learning Maths from scratch. Instead you can go for a different MSc course (not Biotechnology) such as MSc Life Sciences courses in BHU, JNU, Pondichery University, Delhi University etc. Or if you are seriously interested in research, you can go for MSc-PhD dual degree programs. All in all, do what you feel is best for you. Cheers!
