A reaction force is just the opposition force of any force , it exists only in the presence of a action force . For eg : if u place a box of 5 kg (5*9.81=49.05N) on a floor, the floor exerts a reaction force of 49.05N on that box. Once you remove that box then that reaction force disappears.It is also called as normal force. so here , 2T is the reaction force to pulley when both the weight of the masses applies and in second figure, R1 and R2 are normal reaction to the weight...
