Aldols (β− hydroxy aldehydes or β− hydroxyketones) readily undergo dehydration to form α,β− unsaturated aldehydes or ketones. The alkene formed is stable due to conjugation. Option A is correct

option A Solution : The rate controlling step of the mechanism of dehydration is the formation of cabocation. Thus, more stable the carboncation, the faster the dehydration. In all the four cases, the resulting carbocation is destabilized by the −I effect of the carbonyl group. However, the carbocation derived form (3) is least destabilized as the +ve carbon has maximum distance from the carbonyl group. check this link for video solution https://doubtnut.com/question-answer-chemistry/which-one-of-the-following-compounds-will-be-most-readily-dehydrated-13168936
