one mole of an ideal gas is kept in one half of of an adiabatic container and the other half is emptied the two halves of the container are separated by an adiabatic wall the gas is now allowed to expand freely into the empty half by removing the wall then will temperature increases or decreases or will entropy increase or decrease

adiabatic process is the free expansion of a gas. (Figure)shows a gas confined by a membrane to one side of a two-compartment, thermally insulated container. When the membrane is punctured, gas rushes into the empty side of the container, thereby expanding freely. Because the gas expands “against a vacuum” , it does no work, and because the vessel is thermally insulated, the expansion is adiabatic. With  and  in the first law,  so  for the free expansion. Thus in an adiabatic expansion, gas does work hence temperature decreases.

what about entropy shouldn't it remain same?

    no entropy will rise
