PH JAM. 2020 Q.49 The figure shows a circuit containing two diodes Dy and D; with threshold voltages V of 0.7 V and 0.3 V, respectively. Considering the simplified diode model, which assumes diode I-V characteristic as shown in the plot on the right, the current through the resistor R is...

Here from 10 volt (left) to 0 volt (ground, in right most side) The current will flow from left to right. I think this is clear to you. Now we have two batteries in parallel(in opposite direction to current flow), so current will choose the path with minimum oppose, 0.3Volt is the minimum oppose, that why current will only flow through it and equivalently the effective battery is smaller battery.

    Any queries?

    eduncle-logo-app

ok , agr battery opposite polarity ki hoti jo current ko support kare. to konsi battery effective hoti

In that case, both diodes will be reverse biased. And the current will be zero.

Both Si and Ge are in forward bias but Ge will attain cut off early. So Si not conduct in this case...

but hmne to 10 volt dc apply kiya h to dono ek sath conduct ku nhi karenge ,

if the apply source has unlimited current, the Ge diode will conduct first. but the high current will vaporize it. then the silicon diode will conduct. then it will also vaporize.. if the supply is current limited to 30mA, the Ge diode will conduct at perhaps 0.3v continuously. the silicon diode never turn on

You can consider the 10 volt as a battery of 10 volt( I have drawn a battery of 10V in the final diagram).

    ask doubts if any?

    eduncle-logo-app

haan doubt ye h ki parallel combination m net smaller k equivalent kaise hoga

    eduncle-logo-app

because jitna less voltage hoga utna less resistance.. and current always flows through less resistive path
