Ans is .B P and R # The double bond of a cis unsaturated fatty acid provokes an unmovable bend with an angle of 30° in the acyl chain. ... Thus, unsaturated fatty acids in the cis configuration with bended steric structures (i.e. a kink in the acyl chain) result in a membrane with a relatively high fluidity. # At high temperatures, the phospholipids are further apart. In this case, cholesterol in the membrane has the opposite effect and pulls phospholipids together, increasing intermolecular forces and decreasing fluidity. # The fatty acid chains in membranes usually contain between 14 and 24 carbon atoms; they may be saturated or unsaturated. Short chain length and unsaturation enhance the fluidity of fatty acids and their derivatives by lowering the melting temperature.
