Ma'am, if the question is x^9 -x^5+ x^4 -1 =0 ,then?
• Ruby negi
they add it just for making the question easy.. by adding x+1 u get formula of x^5+1...

just multiply (x+1) both sides

why?
• Ghost.
In question you have various powers of x, so you have to put it in a compact form in order to use De-Movire theorm, so they have multiplied both side by (x+1) and as result LHS red...

Is this topics needed for JAM?
• Vaishali sharma
because x = -1 will satisfy the equation so
Snehasish ghosh
Ma'am, but x= -1 does not satisfy the equation
• Vaishali sharma
if it satisfies the equation then x+1 will be one root of the equation. now we will furtger devide the whole equation with it
