    sir

    eduncle-logo-app

in acidic medium there is always first attack of hydrogen on oxygen

    eduncle-logo-app

    right n

    eduncle-logo-app

yes that is the protonation step. it makes attack easier

    eduncle-logo-app

sir but in some sites there is attack of nucleophile first

    eduncle-logo-app

    ..

    eduncle-logo-app

    yes it is correct

    eduncle-logo-app

but sir first step is attack of h on carbon

    eduncle-logo-app

that is just an alternative way, the mechanism you posted is still relevant, as attach of nitrogen lone pair on carbonyl.

    eduncle-logo-app

the protonation step you are talking about is just other way to get product. both are correct.

    eduncle-logo-app

    ok

    eduncle-logo-app

and sir I am getting confused in acidic and basic medium

    eduncle-logo-app

it's very easy, in acidic mediums the protonation of oxygen occurs first and then attack of nitrogen lone pair, and in basic medium direct attack of nitrogen lone pair takes place.

    eduncle-logo-app

it means that attack of amine to carbonyl compound should be occur be acidic medium as given in my book and the first step shoul be attack of h on oxygen

    eduncle-logo-app

    be ~in**

    eduncle-logo-app

    yes

    eduncle-logo-app

why reaction of weak nucleophile occurs under acidic condition and those of strong nucleophile occur under basic condition why

    eduncle-logo-app

these conditions are followed to makes the reaction more feasible to get product. activation energy is lowered so as to get maximum amount of product in best possible condition
