in the below paragraph it says to take the absolute value so we do want the jacobian to be positive??

    eduncle-logo-app

since jacobian is a factor that stretches or squashes bounded region be it in 1,2,3- D. acc. to me negative area or volume doesn't make sense so we take the absolute value of the Jacobian. is my reasoning right Satpal sir. If I am wrong please let me. know.

yes in the definition of integration we have to take absolute value. your reasoning is right
