    use this definition to prove . and for finite degree polynomials it is easy to prove LI. take a linear combination of finite degree and equate this to zero polynomial. make coefficients to zero . so you will get all constants equal to zero.

    I have to show that it is LI so how can I use the definition of LI i.e. set the LC of polynomials=0? how can I use something that I have to prove first???

    we equate linear combination equal to zero and try to find all constants equal to zero. that is the procedure to find LI
